Chapter 2 

4 Levels of Reading



"They are here called levels rather than kinds because kinds, strictly speaking, are distinct from one another, whereas it is characteristic of levels that higher ones include lower ones."



1)Elementary reading:

-First child encounter with the reading

-Occurs in primary

-The reader is concerned with language as it is employed by the writer without asking questions of why and for what.

 

2) Inspectional reading:
- Time is important 

-Have certain time to get out of the book everything that can be taken.

-Skimming or pre-reading

 

3) Analytical reading:

-Depending on the difficulty of the text to be read, it makes more or less heavy demands on the reader.

-Reader has to ask questions

-Analytical reading is the prerequisite of understanding it. 

4) Synoptical reading:

-Comparative reading.

-Reader read many books and compare them and put into relation one another.

- The reader create an analysis of subjects that is not in any books is his or her own creation later of analyze.
